There are about 1500 islands in Estonia. They are scattered over the Baltic Sea and many of them are uninhabited. First, we take the ferry to the large island Hiiumaa. The ferry ride is exciting because we drive very slowly through the flat Baltic Sea and pass small islets on which we can already discover the first ringed seals. After the crossing, we continue with a small fishing boat, which brings us into the Baltic islands\u2019 world and to the seal banks. The ringed seals that live here and can be easily viewed from the boat. Later on, we go ashore on the islet of Saarnaki. The juniper-covered island was abandoned by its inhabitants decades ago.
